Treatment Program

become a counsellorOur individualized treatment program begins with an initial holistic intake assessment conducted by our intake professional staff which is non-judgmental.

The multi-disciplinary assessment team then carries out their comprehensive assessment as it is by getting a clear understanding and individual’s upbringing background prior to admission that enables us to properly set goals and individual treatment care plan including other therapies. We offer various types of therapy such as one on one therapy, group therapy sessions, individual therapy and holistic therapy sessions:

We provide 24 hours care in a Christian-based therapeutic community setup. Admission takes place every day of the week. The duration of stay is usually dependent on the severity of addiction and the patient's response to treatment. However, for most clients, the recommended duration period in a rehabilitation centre is 90 days (3 months).

In order to be admitted the following requirements are necessary:

- Person voluntarily desires to abstain completely from mood-altering substance. This makes the beginning of individual commitment.
- Person accepts to undergo treatment for the set periods of at least 3 months.
- Person accepts to adhere to our set norms and procedures and enters the agreement in writing.
- Person brings enough clothes with other personal effects. Important documents and money has to be kept in the center's office.
- Person is accompanied by an immediate family member who agrees to support that treatment process by signing relevant documents.

As we are guided by our policies and protocols, there are no visits for the first 30 days from the first day of admission. Visits are allowed after every two weeks thereafter.

Treatment Goals

Achievement of the following is a satisfactory indication of progress:
a) person understands addiction and its implications.
b) Person admits that they need help and give consent to treatment.
c) Person identifies specifically what they need to change in order to live constructively.
d) Person translates this understanding into action and or an action plan.
e) Execution of the plan i.e. commitment to comply with the treatment towards a wholesome self.

The Treatment Program Has Four Stages:

  1. Orientation/social/ medical detoxification (2 weeks/14 days)
  2. Primary treatment (9 weeks/63 days)
  3. Relapse Prevention (2 weeks/14 days)
  4. Community Re-integration after discharge.

Detoxification Treatment

This treatment process involves the expulsion of all addictions substance chemicals from persons body system in order to safely manage withdraw symptoms. This usually takes place as soon as the person is assessed by the doctor who determines whether the person needs this treatment or not.

Withdrawal symptoms come in various forms and severity depending on the longevity of the addiction. Some of the serious severe alcohol withdrawal symptoms are Delirium Tremens which if not treated can be vital. There are other psychological effects of withdrawals symptoms such as increased symptoms of depression, anxiety, hallucinations and seizures one can experience. At Turning Point, we help you alleviate the pain during withdrawals as we offer a Detox program as we have round-the-clock medical professionals available during crucial time.

After completion of the residential treatment programme, clients are encouraged to continue engaging in outpatient treatment programs in order to reduce the risk of relapse after discharge.
